“The making of rattles in Portugal, a craft and cultural manifestation that has its greatest expression in the Alentejo and Alcáçovas, has been classified by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
The decision was taken on December 1, 2015, Lisbon time, by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), at the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which took place in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.”
